Klarvo and IMG Performer both address EU AI Act Art. 50 labelling – but from different ends. Klarvo is a free website tool: an Art. 50 notice, a readiness score and a visible label that the editorial team sets per image. IMG Performer starts at the image: it detects AI-generated images automatically, writes a machine-readable marking into every image size WordPress generates, and additionally converts the images to WebP/AVIF.

The difference in approach
- Klarvo relies on the editorial team to mark AI images. IMG Performer detects them automatically on upload via C2PA/EXIF signatures.
- Klarvo can preserve an existing C2PA marking during resizing. IMG Performer actively writes a machine-readable marking back into every image size – even when only a heuristic applies.
- Klarvo optimizes no images and generates no alt text.
When Klarvo is the better choice
If you mainly want the site-wide Art. 50 notice and the readiness score, use AI images rarely and deliberately, and do not need image optimization – free and quick to set up.
When IMG Performer fits
If AI images are uploaded regularly, the labelling should apply automatically and across all image sizes, and you cover optimization and alt text at the same time.

Can I use Klarvo and IMG Performer together?
Yes. Klarvo for the site-wide notice and self-assessment, IMG Performer for detection and labelling at the image level. Only one plugin should set the visible label.
Is a visible label alone enough to meet the obligation?
The machine-readable marking comes from the AI tool; a visible label does not replace it technically. For deepfakes the visible label is additionally required.
