Img Performer is now on wordpress.org

After the review, after the tests, after the whole journey: the plugin is live. Free, installable directly from WordPress — with AVIF support waiting in PRO.

Sometimes a moment takes longer than expected. The review process on wordpress.org isn’t something you just click through — there are real people behind it with real requirements. Security, code quality, licensing, documentation. That’s a good thing.

But now it’s here.

Img Performer is live on wordpress.org.

What this means

From now on, any WordPress site can install the plugin directly from the backend — no ZIP download, no manual upload. Search for “Img Performer”, one click, done.

The plugin is free. WebP conversion on every upload, srcset rewriting, lightbox links, lazy-load — all of it without configuration, immediately after activation.

What changed during the review

We didn’t just submit the plugin and hope for the best. The review team came back with points — around code standards, external services, file structure. We worked through every single one.

The result is a plugin that doesn’t just work, but meets the requirements of the world’s largest open-source platform. That’s not marketing — it’s a technical quality marker.

PRO is live too

In parallel, the PRO version is available via Digistore24. AVIF conversion, bulk conversion of the entire media library, AI-generated alt texts in twelve languages — and auto-updates directly in WordPress, independent of wordpress.org.

When you activate PRO, nothing changes about your workflow. The plugin behaves the same — just with more to it.

What’s coming next

The plugin is live, but we’re not done. Open items: WP-CLI commands for developers, per-image savings stats in the attachment modal, a growing test suite.

And: real usage numbers. We’ll report on those.

Thanks to everyone who followed along — as testers, as readers of these posts, as people waiting.

The first real step is done.
